He was known as Mang Fedy at the Rizal Memorial Swimming Pool where he coached the Far Eastern University Swimming Team. Haydee Coloso, Gertrudes Lozada, Victoria Cagayat, Ulpiano Babol, Bert Lozada, Ressie Neric, Jean Belzer, Hedy Garcia and Susan Papa were among his prodigies.
At the Manila Polo Club and the Army and Navy Club where he was casually called "Freddy" by hundreds of children, scions of Manila's affluent families. The last children he taught swimming were his own grandchildren: Joselina, Miguel and Caridad. Here is the proud grandfather with his
